To Be A Model or Just Look Like One…

When you hear or see the word modeling or model, you relate to the person as being tall, young, and thin. Today the modeling concept has changed. Models vary in height, weight, and age. Barbizon School of Modeling & Personal Development in Tampa, FL has incorporated various divisions of modeling. Barbizon has initiated the search for oversized male and female models and recently started its first Classical Women Model Search.
The search consists in interested candidates attending a brief introductory meeting about Barbizon and the program they are working on. Each candidate is individually interviewed. If you are selected you were invited to another interview for the final selection. The selected candidates are instructed when the 16-week classes commence.
The Classical Women Model students vary from petite to thin, ages 25 on, range single women, widows, housewives... Some are inspired to be a model or just look like one, to be an actress or just for personal development.
As a Barbizon student concepts in fashion, accessorizing, professional and daily make-up; skin, hair and nail care; acting, runway modeling, photo shooting, and interview techniques are taught through lectures and hands on training by Barbizon staff and special invited guests. An in class fashion show is also choreographed by the students. And as part of the curriculum, a photo shoot section is included in order to give the students an opportunity to prepare their modeling/acting composite. All students participate and quickly apply what is learned in class to their daily lives.
At the end of the 16-week program, the students choreograph their own fashion show as part of their graduation ceremony that is usually held at the Tampa Convention Center for family, friends, and acquaintances to attend. The graduation ceremony also includes graduates of all Barbizon's modeling divisions. This is the day for all the students to apply what they learned and to shine.

Being a Barbizon student myself along with my mom in the Classical Women Model category, the experience has been rewarding. After seeing the ad in the newspaper, I thought this would be nice to look in to. I wanted to do it for myself and for my mom to take part in order to keep us both occupied and try to forget a little of what had happened in our lives in the past year. My mom had just become a widow. She didn’t agree to give it a try but it didn’t take long for her to change her mind. It made me extremely happy when she answered to someone’s question, "Why did you take modeling?" "Because I lost my husband and I was depressed." I’m very proud of my mom in not giving up. But our concept has changed after completing the program. We have enriched our personal development, we have a more positive outlook relating to ourselves, a possible career in modeling and or acting whether it be runway, photo and or catalog prints, commercials… (the opportunities are broad) would not be denied.
We will definitely return to Barbizon School of Modeling for future classes to maintain our experience, knowledge, and lives enriched. Once you're a Barbizon student, you're always a Barbizon student.
